"Reflecting on Halloween and what this specific time means for Western Australia, I have divided the event into two themes:

Part 1= Hope Fattening Fornicating Dapper

Part 2= Salt Dust Fast Moving Reptiles Suffocation

We do not harvest our crops or watch our leaves falling. In WA, October is the time of Kambarang, when everything is green and lush from rain, when animals are madly breeding and birthing and sporting their finest plumage. Soon after comes Birak, the time of dry, hot, blinding sun and suffocating air, the hardship that heralds the return of rain. We collectively experience hope and frantic joy, coloured over with a sense of foreboding, anticipating the rigor to come. Feast and fear, Halloween."
